Rain showers and gusty winds expected in Latvia this weekend
Meteorologists have updated the weekend forecast for Latvia, predicting alternating showers and sunshine on Friday and Saturday, with rain spreading across the whole country on Sunday. Conditions are expected to calm early next week, though rain will persist.

Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued an updated forecast for the upcoming weekend, pointing to changeable weather with rain in many areas.
Friday
Friday will bring cloudy skies with brief showers in many places, though sunny spells are also expected. Winds will blow light to moderate from the southwest and south, becoming moderately strong and gusty along the coast, reaching up to 16 metres per second at night and 15-18 metres per second during the day. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +8..+13°C, slightly warmer in some coastal areas, while daytime highs will reach +15..+19°C.
Saturday
Saturday will see variable cloud cover, with rain more widespread at night and only local showers during the day. Winds from the south and southwest will be light to moderate, moderately strong along the coast with gusts of 15-18 metres per second. Overnight temperatures will fall to +10..+12°C, or +12..+16°C on the coast, before daytime highs reach +16..+18°C.
Sunday
Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with rain expanding from the western and central regions at night to the entire country during the day, locally heavy. Coastal gusts of 15-17 metres per second are expected to continue. Nighttime temperatures will range from +14..+17°C, cooler in the east at +10..+13°C, while daytime temperatures will climb to +15..+19°C.
Forecasters note that winds should ease and conditions become calmer in the first half of next week, although rain is still expected, with temperatures remaining similar to those seen over the weekend.
