A strong heatwave is expected in Latvia at the end of the week, according to forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. On Thursday, skies will be partly cloudy, with brief rain in some eastern areas. Nighttime temperatures will range from +10°C to +14°C, slightly warmer on the coast. Daytime highs will reach +21°C to +26°C.

Friday will be even warmer. The west and central regions will see fewer clouds during the day, while isolated showers may occur at night. Central and eastern areas could experience thunderstorms with heavy downpours. Overnight lows will be +13°C to +18°C, and daytime temperatures will climb to +20°C to +25°C across most of the country, reaching up to +28°C in parts of Kurzeme.

Over the weekend, a hot air mass from Western Europe will arrive. The mercury will hit or exceed +30°C in many places. An anticyclone will dominate the following week, bringing mostly sunny and dry weather.

At the end of the month, thunderstorms with heavy rain are likely after the hot days. The intense heat will retreat in early July, but temperatures will remain pleasantly warm.
