Rain and Thunderstorms Return to Latvia; Cooler Weather to Persist Next Week
After brief showers on Thursday, a wetter and windier period is expected in Latvia over the weekend, with possible thunderstorms. The start of next week will also be rainy and cool, with temperatures mostly below 20°C.

On Thursday, August 15, many parts of Latvia will experience short-lived rain, followed by clearing skies from the west. Winds will be light, and temperatures will reach +20…+25°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Towards the end of the week, cyclones will bring more cloud cover and widespread precipitation. From late Friday night, a rain zone will move in from the west: overnight rain in western and central regions, reaching eastern areas during the day. Local thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible.
Rain will continue through the weekend. Winds will strengthen on Friday, with coastal gusts up to 15–18 m/s, remaining brisk through the weekend. Temperatures will be cooler: daytime highs mostly between +19°C and +24°C.
The start of next week will follow a similar pattern: rainy days with little sunshine, and temperatures often staying below +20°C, forecasts show.
