Rain, thunderstorms and strong wind forecast for Latvia this weekend
Meteorologists forecast changeable, rainy weather across Latvia from Friday through Sunday, with local thunderstorms and heavy downpours, while a new cyclone from Tuesday will bring even more precipitation.

According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the upcoming weekend will bring largely unsettled weather. On Friday, skies will be mostly cloudy with rain expected in many areas. In the north of the country, thunderstorms with potentially very heavy downpours are possible. Winds will blow from the south and southwest, reaching gusts of 15–17 meters per second along the coast at night and in central and eastern regions during the day. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +12…+17°C, while daytime highs will reach +15…+18°C.
Rain continues through the weekend
On Saturday, most of the country will remain cloudy with intermittent rain, and thunderstorms with heavy downpours are possible in some areas. Winds will shift to the west and southwest, becoming gusty along the coast. Nighttime temperatures will fall to +10…+15°C, rising to +14…+17°C during the day.
On Sunday night, fog is expected in some areas, along with continued rain and possible thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours. During the day, cloud cover will decrease, though rain will persist. Winds will shift to the west and northwest, reaching 15–16 meters per second along the gulf coast from midday. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +8…+11°C, a few degrees warmer along the coast, while daytime temperatures will climb to +15…+18°C.
Brief improvement expected early next week
Monday is expected to be largely dry, but starting Tuesday, a new cyclone will bring increased cloud cover and renewed precipitation. Despite this, daytime temperatures will remain relatively warm, locally reaching up to +20°C. Winds will stay light to moderate, occasionally gusty along the coast.
