A weekend in London: what to fit into two days

London remains a popular short-break destination from Latvia, with a flight of under three hours and a mix of famous landmarks and lesser-known spots to explore.

The author travelled to London in connection with the "Samsung Galaxy Unpacked" event, where the new "Samsung" devices — the "Galaxy Fold8 Ultra", "Galaxy Fold8" and "Galaxy Flip8" — were tested. Despite the city's reputation for grey skies and rain, the visit took place under sunny conditions without a drop of rain.

Day one – the essential sights

For a short trip, it's worth dedicating the first day to the best-known landmarks — Big Ben, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace — leaving the rest of the visit for a more relaxed pace. Planning the route was made easier with the help of the "Galaxy Fold8 Ultra" device, which generated a day itinerary within moments after the desired sights were entered.

Since the hotel was about a ten-minute walk from Tower Bridge, it became the first stop of the trip. The bridge itself had already been visited before, but this time the museum located at its upper level was explored for the first time. Despite expecting long queues, entry was almost immediate, and a student discount was available on the ticket.

The museum offers insight into the bridge's history. One notable detail learned was that the company which built Tower Bridge's steel structure later also produced the large steel components used in the construction of the ship "Titanic".
