Last week brought a string of notable global events, from an onboard emergency on a Flydubai flight to student protests in France and flooding in Thailand.

The past week featured a range of notable events across the globe, captured in striking images.
Crisis in the air
Flydubai flight FZ 1073 was diverted to Saudi Arabia after a crew member was attacked onboard during the flight. Passengers who went through the emergency landing arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv on September 30. The flight's captain was Indian pilot Smit Machchhar. In his honor, Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sculpture on a beach in Puri, in India's Odisha state.
War and conflict
In Kyiv on October 2, a Russian jet-powered drone struck a bridge. In the Gaza Strip, funerals were held on October 1 for Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes.
Protests in Europe
In Toulouse, France, high school students staged a protest on October 1 demanding better learning conditions, with one placard referencing an 8am-to-6pm school schedule. In Madrid that same day, demonstrators banged pots in protest, calling for action on Spain's housing crisis following the eviction of an 87-year-old woman from her home.

In Bangkok, Thailand, heavy rain on September 28 left streets flooded, forcing residents to wade through the water. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, supporters of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who is seeking reelection, attended a carnival-style campaign rally on September 27. In Nashville, Tennessee, the execution of convicted murderer Christa Pike was halted on September 30. And in Cape Canaveral, Florida, astronauts from NASA, the Canadian Space Agency and Roscosmos arrived on September 26 to prepare for the Crew 13 launch to the International Space Station.
