Latvia to see drier, sunnier weather as anticyclone approaches
After a cyclone brought rain and gusty winds earlier this week, an anticyclone approaching Latvia will bring drier, sunnier conditions for the second half of the week, with temperatures rising to as high as 28 degrees over the weekend.
Weather in Latvia during the first half of this week was shaped by a broad cyclone over Northern Europe, which brought precipitation and gusty winds. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, an anticyclone approached the country overnight on Wednesday, and its influence will bring drier and sunnier conditions for the rest of the week.
Thursday and Friday
On Thursday, August 13, cloud cover will be variable but no significant precipitation is expected. Winds will be light to moderate from the west. Overnight temperatures will drop to +7 to +12 degrees Celsius, with coastal areas seeing slightly warmer readings up to +16. Daytime highs will reach +19 to +23 degrees.
On Friday, light rain is possible in some eastern areas, while dense fog is expected in the mornings, particularly in Kurzeme. Winds will remain light.
Weekend outlook
Saturday is expected to be dry, though moderate southerly winds will pick up in places. Nighttime lows will range from +13 to +18 degrees, with the night before Friday a couple of degrees cooler in some areas. Daytime temperatures will average +21 to +25 degrees, but could climb as high as +28 degrees in some locations on Saturday.
Towards the end of the weekend and into early next week, cloud cover is expected to increase again, bringing occasional precipitation. Starting Monday, temperatures will gradually begin to decline, though days will generally remain warm for the season.
