Rain to return by Tuesday after a briefly drier start to the week in Latvia

After a rainy weekend, Monday will bring somewhat drier conditions, with rain expected only in some areas and winds weaker than before. However, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, new cyclone activity will spread rain more widely from Tuesday afternoon, while coastal winds will strengthen.

Weather outlook for early week

On Monday, September 7, skies will be partly cloudy, with brief rain expected in places overnight, and locally heavier downpours with thunderstorms possible. From midday onward, rain is likely to become more widespread. Fog may form overnight and in the early morning, mainly in western areas, reducing visibility. Nighttime temperatures will range from +8 to +11 degrees, warmer on the coast at +11 to +16 degrees, while daytime highs will reach +16 to +21 degrees.

On Tuesday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, though rain is expected in the afternoon, particularly in western districts. Fog may develop in eastern areas in the morning. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +10 to +14 degrees, cooler in the east at +8 to +10 degrees, with daytime highs of +18 to +22 degrees.

On Wednesday, cloud cover will increase further, with rain expected both overnight and during the day. Winds will blow from the south and southwest, strengthening to up to 14 meters per second in coastal gulf areas at night. Nighttime temperatures will range from +13 to +17 degrees, with daytime highs not exceeding +17 to +22 degrees.

Meteorologists note that cyclone activity will continue to shape the weather later in the week, bringing new precipitation zones across the country and gusty winds on some days. Air temperature is not expected to change significantly and will remain similar to levels seen at the start of the week.
