Changeable Weather Expected in Latvia as Cyclone Gives Way to High Pressure, Then a New Cyclone

Weather in Latvia will be changeable at the start of the week. On Monday, 12 October, it will be influenced by a cyclone over the Baltic Sea, on Tuesday a high-pressure area will take its place, and on Wednesday a new cyclone will approach from the west. The forecast comes from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the country's agency for weather forecasting and observations.

Monday and Tuesday

Winds will ease slightly, so fog will thicken over large areas. Skies will be mostly cloudy, clearing only at times. Short-lived rain is expected. In the night to Monday, heavy downpours are possible locally, and thunderstorms may occur along the sea coast.

With light winds, fog will form in many places at night and in some areas will linger into the morning. Night temperatures will fall to +4…+9 degrees, while daytime highs will be in the +8…+13 range.

Wednesday

Skies will again be mostly cloudy, with fog in places at night and in the morning. As the new cyclone nears Latvia, the wind will gradually strengthen, becoming a moderate south to southwest wind that will be gusty on the coast. Minimum night temperatures will be similar to the previous day, while the daytime maximum will be a few degrees higher.

Later in the week

At the end of the working week the rain will stop and the sun will shine more often. No gusty wind is expected until Sunday, when the weather is likely to turn wetter and windier again.
