Foggy start to the week in Latvia, wide rain zone approaching from Thursday
Latvia will see changeable cloud cover and scattered rain in the first half of the week, while a broad precipitation zone approaching from the west is expected to bring rain across nearly the whole country by Thursday.
On Monday, most of Latvia will experience intermittent rain showers, though skies will partly clear in the northwestern regions during the afternoon. With light winds, fog will form in many areas overnight and in the morning, significantly reducing visibility in places. Nighttime temperatures will range from +10 to +15 degrees, rising to +15 to +19 degrees during the day.
On Tuesday, conditions will improve as precipitation gradually eases, with rain expected only in isolated spots in the eastern and central parts of the country. Fog will again form overnight and in the morning due to continued light winds. Nighttime lows will drop to +7 to +13 degrees, staying warmer along the coast, while daytime highs will reach +16 to +19 degrees.
Rain zone moving in from the west
On Wednesday, most of the country will stay dry with occasional sunshine breaking through variable cloud. However, a broad precipitation zone will begin approaching from the west in the afternoon, initially affecting only the coastal area. By Thursday, it is expected to spread across nearly the entire country, bringing rain. Winds will remain light overnight into Wednesday, allowing fog to form in eastern areas in the morning, before strengthening during the day from the south and southwest. By Thursday, coastal wind gusts could reach 15 meters per second. Overnight into Thursday, increasing cloud cover will keep temperatures from dropping below +12 to +16 degrees, while daytime temperatures on both days will reach +16 to +19 degrees.
Precipitation is expected to increase over the weekend, with Friday possibly seeing only light, localized rain. Temperatures will remain similar to previous days — +11 to +15 degrees at night and +15 to +20 degrees during the day. Gusty south or southwest winds are also possible across large parts of the country over the weekend.
