Drier start to the week in Latvia gives way to returning rain
Latvia will see relatively dry and warm weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Thursday brings prolonged, at times heavy rain across most of the country. Conditions may improve again by the weekend.

According to Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, Tuesday, September 8, will bring a mix of sun and clouds. Fog is expected overnight and in the morning in parts of the eastern regions, while short-lived rain is forecast in western and central areas in the afternoon. A slow to moderate southerly wind will blow, becoming gusty along the coast during the day. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +9…+12°C, with warmer conditions on the coast at +13…+16°C, while daytime highs will reach +18…+23°C.
Wednesday still warm, rain arrives Thursday
Overnight into Wednesday and during the day, short-lived rain is expected in parts of the country. Fog may form in Kurzeme in the second half of the night, while winds will mostly be slow and variable, with moderate southerly or southwesterly winds along parts of the coast. Nighttime temperatures will range from +11…+16°C, and daytime highs from +18…+23°C, reaching up to +25°C in the southeast.
A more noticeable shift comes on Thursday, when cloud cover increases and most of the country can expect prolonged rain, locally heavy during the day. Winds will start slow but strengthen and turn gusty in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop — to +13…+16°C at night and +14…+19°C during the day, though eastern regions will stay warmer, at +20…+24°C.
Possible improvement by the weekend
Forecasters suggest atmospheric pressure could rise toward the end of the working week, reducing precipitation. Air temperatures, however, are not expected to change significantly and should remain close to levels seen at the start of the week.
