New week to open with rain and thunderstorms, stronger downpours possible by weekend
Forecasters say cyclones will bring frequent rain and slightly cooler weather to Latvia in the second half of August, with more intense rainfall possible by the end of the week.

The new working week in Latvia will be shaped by cyclone activity, bringing frequent rain and slightly cooler air, though daytime temperatures across most of the country will still reach or exceed +20 degrees.
Wetter start to the week
Compared with the past weekend, Monday and Tuesday will be rainier. On Monday, rain is expected in many areas, with some regions also seeing heavy downpours and thunderstorms. On Tuesday, precipitation will mainly affect the Latgale region, where a more persistent rain zone will bring unpleasant conditions. Wind on both days will be mostly light from the west, gradually shifting to a northerly direction. Daytime temperatures will stay around +20 degrees, while nighttime lows in many places will not drop below +10 to +15 degrees.
Uneven rainfall midweek
Weather conditions will not change significantly midweek, as Latvia will remain under the influence of cyclones, keeping the likelihood of rain relatively high. However, precipitation will be distributed unevenly, since the position of rain zones will differ from day to day, meaning some areas may stay dry during this period. No significant strengthening of wind is expected.
Heavier rain possible by week's end
Toward the end of the week, there is a chance of intense and prolonged rainfall that could begin during the night into Saturday and continue through the day. This would be linked to an active cyclone moving across Latvia from the south. Forecasters note the outlook could still change significantly depending on the cyclone's path.
