Neilands helps teammate secure second place at Baloise Belgium Tour stage

Latvian cyclist Krists Neilands assisted his teammate Luke Askie to a runner-up finish in the third stage on Friday, while Neilands himself placed 74th. Emīls Liepiņš finished 87th.

Stage 3 around Durbuy

On Friday, the third stage of the Baloise Belgium Tour (UCI 2.Pro) took place over 173 kilometers with more than 20 climbs. Latvian rider Krists Neilands (NSN) worked for his British teammate Luke Askie, helping him secure second place. The stage was won by Spaniard Alex Aranburu (Cofidis), with another Spaniard, Carlos Canal (Movistar), taking third.

Neilands crossed the line in 74th position, 11 minutes and 43 seconds behind the winner, while Emīls Liepiņš (Pinarello Q36.5) was 87th, 16 minutes and nine seconds down.

General classification

After three stages, Aranburu leads the overall standings by four seconds over Askie and six seconds over Canal. Neilands sits 75th overall, 14 minutes and three seconds behind, while Liepiņš is 79th, 16 minutes and 19 seconds back.

The five-stage race concludes on Sunday. This is the 95th edition of the Baloise Belgium Tour.
