Legal aid to be offered to relatives of those missing in Nepal
Relatives of Latvians who went missing in Nepal must not only wait for news about their loved ones' fate but also deal with numerous legal and practical matters at home, an LSM.lv program reports.
Families of Latvians who have gone missing in Nepal face more than just the anguish of waiting for news from abroad — they must also handle a range of practical and legal issues back home in Latvia. This was reported by the LSM.lv Russian-language program "Obsudim vecherom" ("Let's discuss it in the evening").
Among the urgent matters facing the families of missing persons are bank accounts, loan obligations, and the management of property, including real estate. While there is still no clarity about the fate of their relatives, sorting out such matters adds further stress and uncertainty about how to proceed correctly from a legal standpoint.
To support these families, legal assistance will be made available to relatives, aimed at helping them navigate the formalities linked to a person's disappearance — including financial and property-related questions — while the wait for information about the missing person's fate continues.
The program "Obsudim vecherom" examines the day-to-day difficulties faced by relatives of Latvians missing in Nepal, highlighting the need for support that goes beyond emotional care to include practical and legal assistance.
