Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is still working to determine the whereabouts of two Estonian citizens who went missing following large-scale flooding along the border between Nepal and China's Tibet Autonomous Region on August 26.

According to the ministry, the two citizens were traveling as part of a tour group that had set out from Latvia on August 8.

Coordination with local authorities

Estonia's honorary consul in Nepal is maintaining constant contact with local authorities and the trip's organizers in an effort to obtain more precise information about the missing travelers. The Estonian foreign ministry is also in continuous contact with its Latvian counterparts to coordinate information.

Rescue operations in both China and Nepal are ongoing. The Estonian ministry says it is monitoring the situation in real time.

The ministry also used the occasion to remind citizens to register their trips abroad on its website, so that authorities can more easily reach travelers and assist them in emergencies.
