Singer Elīna Fūrmane and doctor Roberts Fūrmanis reveal several family members missing in Nepal
At least 469 people have died in sudden floods triggered by a glacier collapse in Nepal, with several dozen Latvian citizens among those still missing, including relatives of singer Elīna Fūrmane. The combined death toll in the border region has reached 472, while more than 1,400 people remain unaccounted for.

Fūrmane revealed that her brother and his wife are among the Latvians still being searched for. Based on social media posts, these individuals also appear to be relatives of doctor Roberts Fūrmanis.
Death toll continues to climb
Chinese authorities have already confirmed that at least three more people died in the disaster in neighboring, Beijing-controlled Tibet. This brings the combined death toll from Wednesday's disaster in the Nepal-Tibet border region to 472.
More than 1,400 people, including hundreds of foreign tourists, remain unaccounted for. However, Nepalese authorities have cited a more precise figure of 977 missing persons in a separate statement.
Rescue operations continue
Nepalese police reported that 3,253 people have already been evacuated by helicopter from the disaster zone, many of them injured. More than 150 injured people have been taken to medical facilities in Kathmandu, as well as to hospitals in the Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
A police representative told the DPA news agency that authorities still lack a clear picture of the total number of missing people and that several more days will be needed to fully assess the scale of the disaster.
Many of the dead have yet to be identified, as the powerful currents of water and mud have severely disfigured the bodies.
