Latvian singer Elīna Fūrmane, also known as DJ Ella, has turned to social media asking for help finding information about her brother, who is in a flood-affected area of Nepal. He is one of roughly 30 Latvian travelers with whom contact has been lost in recent days.

Relatives of the travelers are asking anyone with information about the group's whereabouts, their planned route, any contact with members of the group, or people who last saw them, to come forward immediately. The appeal stresses how important it would be to receive even a single confirmation that the travelers are safe.

The public is being urged to share the information as widely as possible so it reaches other travelers, guides, tour organizers and anyone currently in Nepal or who might know something about the fate of the Latvian group. It remains unclear exactly what has happened to the group or where they currently are.

Broader situation in Nepal

Nepal is currently experiencing one of its worst natural disasters in recent years. The death toll from the floods has risen to 469. Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received reports that 39 Latvian tourists could currently be in the country. The consular department says relatives have been unable to reach 28 people since the disaster began.

Two days after the devastating floods struck Nepal, search efforts for survivors are continuing.
