No European remains found yet among Nepal flood victims, Latvia says

A month has passed since devastating floods struck Nepal, yet the fate of 33 Latvian nationals remains unknown — they continue to be listed as missing.

Jurģis Barkāns, a representative of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs who spent three weeks in the disaster-hit country, has reported that search and rescue teams have so far not found the remains of any European citizens. The information was reported by lsm.lv.

The situation indicates that search operations are still ongoing, but no concrete results regarding the fate of Latvian or other European citizens have emerged yet. The three-week presence of a Foreign Ministry representative on the ground reflects the Latvian state's involvement in monitoring the situation and supporting affected families.

The floods in Nepal caused significant destruction, and a large number of people, including foreign tourists and travelers, are still being searched for. Authorities have pledged to keep the public informed as further developments in the search efforts become available.
