NEPLP member Plakans received nearly 80,000 euros as gifts from his children last year
According to the asset declaration filed by Andis Plakans, a member of the National Electronic Mass Media Council, his three children gifted him a total of 79,795 euros last year.

Andis Plakans, a member of Latvia's National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP), received almost 80,000 euros in gifts from his children last year, according to his annual asset declaration submitted to the State Revenue Service.
His salary from the council decreased by 1.5% in 2024 to 68,751 euros. However, much larger sums came from his children: daughter Baiba Plakane gifted him 22,738 euros, son Kārlis Plakans gave 25,475 euros, and another daughter, Rūta Plakane, gifted 31,582 euros. In total, the gifts amounted to 79,795 euros.
Plakans also reported receiving 12,258 euros in pension and 3,017 euros in various benefits from the State Social Insurance Agency. He earned 242 euros in interest from SEB bank and 370 euros in dividends from Swedbank. Additional income included 63 euros from SIA "Metalekspo", 924 euros from the Rural Support Service, and 186 euros from the sale of property.
In terms of real estate, Plakans declared ownership of an apartment in Riga and two other properties in the capital, while being a co-owner of one more property. Outside Riga, he owns land and buildings in Drusti parish, a property in Ropaži parish, and land in Stopiņi parish.
His financial assets include money market instruments worth 19,372 euros and 6,960 US dollars (approximately 6,089 euros). He also owns several vehicles: a 2014 Nissan e-NV200, a 2014 Yamaha MT 09 motorcycle, a 2013 Rydwan Euro C750 trailer, and a 1980 VW Golf.
Plakans keeps 900 US dollars (about 786 euros) and 5,500 euros in cash. He has 44,251 euros and 10,242 US dollars (about 8,947 euros) deposited in banks. He also declared one loan issued worth 53,850 euros, and noted that he has private pension funds and life insurance with savings.
Plakans became a member of NEPLP in January 2022.
