Netflix says it has used AI in roughly 300 titles this year
Netflix reports that generative AI workflows were used in approximately 300 of its titles in 2026, primarily in post-production. The company notes that AI tools help create complex sequences and reduce costs, but human involvement remains essential.

Netflix continues to actively employ artificial intelligence in its content creation, and new data reveals the technology's significant role. According to the shareholder letter detailing the company's second-quarter financials, in 2026, generative AI workflows were used in roughly 300 Netflix titles. The largest concentration of this work was in post-production.
The company named three specific projects that used AI to create highly complex sequences: "Glory" (India), "Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri" (Brazil), and "The American Experiment" (US). However, Netflix notes that the technology is becoming more widespread across its content. As of last July, it was known that AI had been applied in at least one original show, but through acquisitions and the launch of specialized studios, the company's ambitions have clearly expanded further.
In its earnings letter, Netflix stated that it is "increasingly leveraging these tools to deliver higher quality output more quickly and at a lower cost than traditional methods." While AI can indeed create content much faster than a VFX artist or animator, a human touch is still needed to ensure the results fit with the rest of the film or show. Netflix and its partner studios should understand that AI is a useful tool for skilled creators, not a means to replace entire teams.
