Netflix has announced a new interactive horror game, "The Conjuring: Unspoken," set within the world of the Conjuring film franchise. The game will launch exclusively on the streaming service on October 13th, with gameplay displayed on a TV screen while a smartphone serves as the controller.

The title is a narrative experience in which players shape the story by selecting dialogue options as they go. The action takes place at the Red Lion Inn, a historic English location reportedly known for hauntings. Players take on the role of demonologist Francesca Noakes, using phone-based tools to investigate the surroundings, including an electromagnetic field reader, an infrared camera, and a spirit box — devices commonly associated with ghost hunting. The infrared camera, for example, reveals a thermal overlay of the environment, helping players spot cold spots that may signal a supernatural presence.

Netflix says prior familiarity with the Conjuring movies is recommended, noting that several recognizable characters appear in the game and that knowing their backstories enhances the experience.

The game was developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind other narrative horror titles such as The Quarry and Until Dawn. In August, the studio announced plans to cut up to 75 jobs, and its former IT and facilities director said on LinkedIn this week that more than 70 employees would be departing.

The release follows another Netflix horror game, Unhinged, which launched in June. That title came from Night School, the studio behind Oxenfree, which Netflix shut down in August.
