The National Hockey League (NHL) club Mammoth has secured a long-term deal with one of the league's top defensemen. According to the agreement, 29-year-old John Marino will receive $54 million over the next eight seasons, averaging $6.75 million per season.

Marino joined Mammoth last year via a trade from the New Jersey Devils. In the previous season, the defenseman recorded four goals and 32 assists in 80 regular-season games. His plus-minus rating of +42 was the second-best among all NHL defensemen.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Marino scored one goal in six games, marking his first playoff goal in the NHL. Over seven seasons with Mammoth, the Devils, and the Pittsburgh Penguins, he has tallied 23 goals and 134 assists in 443 regular-season games.
