Teenager Arrested in Netherlands for Murder of Parents; Shown Photos of Bodies
A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of killing her parents. Schoolmates claim she showed them photos of the victims' bodies.

Dutch police have arrested a teenager on suspicion of murdering her parents. The tragedy occurred in Meerstad, Groningen province, where last week 53-year-old Johan and 53-year-old Matilda were found dead in their home with stab wounds. A golden retriever was also found stabbed but survived and is now under veterinary care.
Initially reported as 13, the suspect is now confirmed to be 15 years old. The newspaper "Dagblad van het Noorden" revealed that classmates allege the girl showed them photos of her parents' corpses. Local residents are in shock. One told Hart van Nederland they were "shocked and devastated," while another described the couple as "very nice and quiet people" and their daughter as often alone and silent. A classmate characterized her as withdrawn and insecure.
The prosecution is releasing limited information due to the suspect's minor status; she is only allowed contact with her lawyer. She has been remanded in custody for at least two weeks. It is unknown whether she has confessed. Local media report that if convicted, the maximum sentence for a juvenile is one year in a correctional facility, but if psychological disorders are diagnosed, she could face up to seven years of compulsory psychiatric treatment.
