Netherlands' Clementine raises €1.7 million to grow its AI hearing care platform
Maastricht-based startup Clementine has secured a €1.7 million seed round led by Amsterdam investor Healthy.Capital to expand its AI platform that helps hearing clinics turn leads into patients.
Clementine, a startup based in Maastricht, the Netherlands, has raised €1.7 million (around $2 million) in a Seed funding round. The round was led by Healthy.Capital, an Amsterdam-based early-stage HealthTech investor whose portfolio includes Pharmi, MS Sherpa, OpenUp, Datamonk and Clear.bio.
The company was founded in 2024 by Vince van de Weijer, who serves as its CEO. Also known as ClementineAI, the startup describes itself as the world's first AI hearing activation platform built specifically for the hearing-care industry.
How the platform works
At the core of the platform is Matthew, an AI hearing care agent that communicates directly with prospective patients. Matthew can answer questions around the clock, educate users, help them work through emotional and practical barriers, and guide them toward the right care. For clinics, this reduces administrative workload and converts calls directly into bookings.
Healthy.Capital managing partner Douwe Jippes said Clementine combines deep industry expertise with a clear, globally scalable AI platform strategy, adding that this approach could fundamentally change how people with hearing disabilities engage with healthcare.
Background and next steps
The funding follows the company's recent expansion into the US and Canadian markets through a partnership with Zoolstra, a marketing agency that works with hearing clinics and hearing-care groups across North America.
According to Clementine, hearing loss affects an estimated 1.5 billion people worldwide, and nearly 80% of those affected never seek treatment — those who do typically wait more than eight years before doing so. The new funding will be used to further develop the company's AI capabilities and to expand partnerships with hearing clinics, optical retailers and other healthcare providers.
