Nintendo Announces Pikmin Day With Game Updates and a New Series of Shorts
Japanese game company Nintendo announced on October 31 that November 1 will mark the first Pikmin Day. A short presentation revealed news on Pikmin 4, the Pikmin Bloom app and the new animated series Hello! Pikmin.
Nintendo, the Japanese video game maker, announced this morning that November 1 will be the first annual Pikmin Day, a celebration of its Pikmin game franchise. In a brief broadcast called the Pikmin Day Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto, the series' creator, shared news about Pikmin 4 for the Switch 2 console, the mobile app Pikmin Bloom and a new set of short films called Hello! Pikmin.
Pikmin 4 updates
In Pikmin 4, players will be able to use the built-in microphone of the Switch 2 to give voice commands to Oatchi, the space dog. The game will also include a Dandori Academy mode, which tests players' skills in specific challenges. Limited tests will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with leaderboards where players can compare their results.
Pikmin Bloom and animation
The mobile app Pikmin Bloom is getting a new feature called Secret Caves. Players will be able to win treasure by battling enemies and exploring the caves.
Miyamoto also presented the first installment of the Hello! Pikmin shorts. A second episode will premiere on November 1, and a third will follow later in November. From December, the series will release one short per month. It builds on the success of Close to You, a Pikmin animation released last year.
