Liene Cipule, director of the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD), revealed in the program "Spried ar Delfi" that Mondays are a major challenge for the service, as long queues often form at hospitals on that day. According to her, the situation experienced on June 8, when NMPD brigades waited almost two hours to hand over a patient at the admission department of Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS), is not an exception.

Cipule emphasized that such situations occur regularly, not only on Mondays. She noted that from time to time, 7–8 brigades get stuck at hospitals, and this is not rare. Although Mondays are the most pronounced, similar problems can also be observed on other weekdays.

The director explained that the delays are due to hospital admission departments being unable to quickly accept all patients because of a lack of space. She added that patients cannot be left in corridors, which leads to congestion. This issue has been relevant for some time and requires a solution from both hospitals and the service.
