NMPD Director Warns of Ambulance Traffic Jams at Stradiņš Hospital, Calls for Urgent Solution
Liene Cipule, director of the Emergency Medical Service, states that long ambulance queues at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital endanger patients' access to emergency care. A proposal to restore 24/7 emergency services at Rīga 1st Hospital has been put forward on the public initiative platform Manabalss.lv.

The director of the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD), Liene Cipule, has stressed that the persistent ambulance traffic jams at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS) are unacceptable and jeopardize patients' ability to receive timely emergency care. She emphasizes that this situation cannot continue.
As a potential solution, the civic engagement platform "Manabalss.lv" has proposed reinstating a 24-hour emergency department at Rīga 1st Hospital. This measure could help reduce the burden on Stradiņš Hospital and shorten waiting times.
Representatives from PSKUS have also suggested that it might be necessary to revisit the idea of involving another hospital in Riga to ensure more efficient emergency services. No concrete decisions have been made yet, but discussions on further action are ongoing.
