Regular flights between Tallinn and Kuressaare resume on September 1 after a three-week suspension for runway repairs at Kuressaare Airport, which cost 2.5 million euros.
Starting September 1, regular flights between Tallinn and Kuressaare, a town on the Estonian island of Saaremaa, are resuming after a three-week pause.
Reason for the closure
The suspension allowed crews to replace the asphalt surface of the runway at Kuressaare Airport. The repair was necessary because the worn-out surface was gradually becoming a safety hazard for aircraft.
Cost
Replacing the surface of the two runways cost a total of 2.5 million euros.
With the runway repair now complete, Kuressaare Airport is again ready to handle regular commercial flights, restoring the air link between the Estonian capital and the island.
