A number of world-renowned artists, musicians and writers once lived in homes that have since become distinctive art landmarks in their own right. These former residences are now open to the public, offering a glimpse into the daily lives and creative processes of famous figures.

Some of these houses still contain their former residents' personal belongings, while others preserve original furniture, studio spaces, or even gardens designed by the artists themselves. This gives visitors a rare chance to get to know celebrities not only through their work, but through the everyday environments in which they lived and created.

Notable examples

Among the featured locations is Spanish artist Salvador Dalí's surrealist house on Spain's coast, which reflects his distinctive artistic vision even in the design of his home. American music legend Elvis Presley lived at his famous Graceland estate, which has since become one of the world's best-known house museums.

In Mexico, visitors can see artist Frida Kahlo's vividly blue house, one of the country's most popular cultural and tourist attractions. The list also includes Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, whose former residence is likewise counted among places that preserve the personal atmosphere of renowned artists.

Such house museums allow visitors to see well-known figures from a different angle — not only through the art or music they created, but as people with their own daily lives, tastes and ways of living.
