Some people go abroad chasing better opportunities, others for a dream. For internationally recognized tattoo artists Aivars and Daira Liepa, the plan was always to earn money in Norway and eventually return to Latvia.

Now they have done just that—but not to Riga, instead settling in Cēsis. The couple says they did not want to stay in Norway; life there was more complicated. Cēsis, they find, is simpler—both daily life and work.

Although no further details are available about their time abroad, the Liepas’ story reflects a broader trend: many Latvians who left for work overseas eventually choose to come back. For creative professionals with international recognition, returning home has become a viable option.
