Fuel excise tax to be cut from October through year-end
The Saeima has passed in final reading amendments that will further reduce the excise tax on diesel and lower the rate on unleaded petrol until the end of the year. The move is expected to cut fuel prices by roughly eight cents per litre.
Latvia's parliament, the Saeima, today gave final approval to amendments to the Law on Limiting the Increase in Oil Product Prices, providing for an additional reduction in the excise tax rate on diesel fuel and a lower rate on unleaded petrol.
The changes will apply from October through the end of this year.
Expected impact
The measure is expected to reduce fuel prices by approximately eight cents per litre.
