Liepāja to expand public transport routes from October
Starting October 1, Liepāja will introduce changes to its public transport network, including new connections to the Southern Cemetery and hospital, plus school-adapted routes. The changes are based on resident suggestions and passenger flow data.

The municipal agency "Liepājas Sabiedriskais transports" will implement changes to the city's public transport route network and schedules starting October 1. The decision follows proposals made at an August meeting at Liepāja City Council, along with passenger suggestions and passenger counting data.
New connections
A new route, 8A "Southern Cemetery–Šķēde," will connect the city center to the Southern Cemetery, operated by a large-capacity bus running two trips daily. The existing route 25A, using a smaller bus, will continue to serve the cemetery as well.
On weekdays, a new route 5A "Pulkveža Brieža Street–Hospital" will provide a morning connection from Karosta to Liepāja Regional Hospital and the "Zīļuks" preschool.
Adjustments for schoolchildren
Following parents' requests, two additional trips on route 10S will be introduced, timed to match class schedules at O. Kalpaks Secondary School and Karosta Music School. Since existing trips were overcrowded, additional buses will run via an alternate route around the Tosmare Canal.
Adjustments will also affect routes 9 and 4 to help students reach Draudzīgais Aicinājums School on time, as well as routes 2S and 6A near Mirdza Ķempe and Dzērve streets to serve nearby schools.
Ongoing refinement
The agency says work on refining the route network will continue beyond October, based on new passenger data. Informational diagrams about the changes have been posted at stops since September 28, while new schedules will be available at stops, online, and in the "Liepājas pilsēta" mobile app from October 1. Passengers with questions are encouraged to contact the agency, specifying their starting point, destination, and desired arrival time.
