Thieves Steal Millions in Jewelry from René Lalique Museum in France
On Sunday morning, around 20 jewelry pieces were stolen from a museum dedicated to René Lalique in the Bas-Rhin department. Losses are estimated near four million euros.

A museum dedicated to the renowned Art Nouveau and Art Deco jeweler and glassmaker René Lalique in the Bas-Rhin department of France was burgled early on Sunday. According to a source close to the investigation, one or more thieves broke into the museum around 5:30 a.m. local time (6:30 a.m. Latvian time) and went straight to the room where the jewelry was kept.
Approximately 20 jewelry pieces were stolen. The amount of loss is currently being assessed but is expected to be several million euros, likely close to four million, the source said. The museum announced on its website that it will be closed for several days due to the theft to ensure a safe reopening.
The museum, dedicated to René Lalique, opened in 2011. Police are investigating the circumstances of the theft.
