Nõmme Kalju Beat Linfield 1-0 in UEFA Conference League
Nõmme Kalju defeated Northern Irish side Linfield 1-0 at home, while Paide drew 1-1 away against Hegelmann in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.

On Thursday, July 9, Nõmme Kalju hosted Northern Ireland's Linfield at the Primore Stadium in Pärnu in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, with 712 spectators in attendance. The home side scored the only goal early in the second half. Initially credited to Roko Vukušić, the goal was later assigned by officials to Tiago Baptista.
Linfield created several dangerous chances and took numerous corners but failed to beat Kalju goalkeeper Henri Perk. After the match, Kalju player Rommi Sicht highlighted the team's collective spirit: each player supported the others, and they maintained a high level of team play. Defensively, they stood firm against crosses and the opponent's height advantage. Sicht noted that the final 15 minutes, sitting deep in defense, were particularly tough, requiring full effort every meter.
Looking ahead to the second leg, Sicht emphasized the need to approach it as a 0-0 match rather than trying to protect the 1-0 lead. He stressed taking positive emotions from the win but playing more confidently with the ball.
In the other match, Paide drew 1-1 away against Lithuanian side Hegelmann. Abdurahman Badamosi put Paide ahead in the 37th minute, but in first-half stoppage time, the hosts earned a penalty. Ebrima Jarju saved Vilius Armanavičius's initial spot-kick, but the rebound fell to the Lithuanian, who scored on the second attempt. The return legs are scheduled for July 16.
