A sprawling leak totaling more than 12 terabytes of data has appeared online, containing builds of games uploaded to the Steam platform between 2003 and 2013, according to The Verge. Given the archive's enormous size, its full contents remain unknown, but users have already begun combing through it and sharing what they find.
Notable discoveries
Among the most talked-about finds are assets tied to the long-canceled Half-Life 2: Episode 3. The archive also contains content that was cut from the final release of Portal 2, along with a build of a game called F-Stop, set in the Portal universe and built around a camera-based mechanic.
The leak isn't limited to Valve titles. Early builds from other studios have also turned up, including versions of Call of Duty and Resident Evil installments, as well as development builds of Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Dragon Age: Origins.
Portal 2 secrets
The Portal 2 material has drawn particular attention. People digging through the archive have found deleted dialogue that reframes how players might view the game's Companion Cubes, along with alternate versions of the game's intro and GlaDOS sequences. A version of the in-game Weaponizer device originally meant for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 was also uncovered.
As the community continues sorting through the massive trove, more details about unreleased projects and cut content are expected to emerge.
