Norris Capitalizes on Rivals' Mistakes

McLaren driver Lando Norris secured the win in Formula 1's 11th round – the Hungarian Grand Prix – qualifying on Saturday. Last year's champion earned his first pole position of the season with a time of 1:17.207 in Q3.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton finished second, just 0.012 seconds behind Norris, but was handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri (Mercedes). As a result, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) will start alongside Norris on the front row. The second row features Piastri and Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who spun near the end of qualifying and failed to improve his time.

The third row consists of Hamilton and George Russell (Mercedes), followed by season leader Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Isack Hadjar (Red Bull). Antonelli also received a three-place grid penalty for ignoring yellow flags.

Standings and Race

After ten races, Antonelli leads the drivers' standings with 204 points, ahead of Hamilton (159) and Russell (154). Leclerc has 126, Norris 103, Piastri 92, and Verstappen 91. In the constructors' championship, Mercedes leads with 358 points, followed by Ferrari (285), McLaren (195), and Red Bull (151).

The Hungarian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday. The season will conclude in early December in Abu Dhabi. Originally scheduled for 24 rounds, races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled due to conflict in the Middle East.
