Normunds Dzintars elected secretary of Saeima higher education subcommittee
Saeima deputy Normunds Dzintars (National Alliance) has been elected secretary of the Higher Education, Science and Human Capital Subcommittee of the Education, Culture and Science Committee.

This week, deputies of the Higher Education, Science and Human Capital Subcommittee of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Committee elected deputy Normunds Dzintars (National Alliance) as the subcommittee's secretary.
According to the law, the secretary of a Saeima subcommittee receives a supplement to the base monthly salary with a coefficient of 0.3. The base monthly salary of a Saeima deputy in 2026 is set at 4330 euros before tax, but actual remuneration may vary depending on positions held, such as committee or faction chairs receiving higher pay.
With the approval of the government led by former opposition representative Andris Kulbergs (AS), the composition of the Saeima has changed significantly – several deputies became ministers, while former ministers returned to parliament.
