Norwegian Defense Minister Rejects Trump's Pressure on Greenland
Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik dismissed renewed pressure from US President Donald Trump over Greenland, emphasizing that allies are already working on Arctic security and that Greenland's sovereignty is a red line.

Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik has rejected renewed pressure from US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland. In an interview with Politico, reported by European Pravda, Sandvik stated that allies monitoring Russian activities in the far north are already doing real work to ensure security in the Arctic.
This week, Trump said that Greenland should be under the control of the United States, not Denmark. He argued this is necessary to strengthen security in the Arctic, and the way to achieve this is to annex Greenland to the US.
Sandvik did not directly attack Trump but emphasized that Greenland is a “red line.” “We have a completely clear position on the sovereignty of Greenland. It is part of Denmark, the Kingdom of Denmark. And we make this quite clear to the Americans as well,” the minister said.
He added that Norway perceives the security problem differently, as the main military threat in the Arctic is not related to Greenland. “There is no movement from Russia or China around Greenland,” Sandvik noted.
Earlier, the Danish Prime Minister stated that Danes are ready to defend their land in response to Trump's new demands.
