At a conference held in Riga on Thursday, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide shared his assessment of the effectiveness of international sanctions against Russia.

The minister acknowledged that the sanctions imposed so far are indeed putting pressure on Russia's economy and helping to constrain its capabilities. However, he said sanctions alone are not a sufficient tool to achieve the desired outcome.

Eide stressed that sanctions policy is effective only when combined with other instruments. The source report did not specify which additional measures he had in mind alongside the sanctions.

The statement was made during an international conference in Riga, where the situation surrounding Russia and the international community's response were discussed.
