The Norwegian national football team, which returned to the World Cup finals after a 28-year hiatus and reached the quarterfinals where they lost 1-2 to England, was greeted by tens of thousands of fans upon their arrival in Oslo.

The celebration took place at the square in front of the Royal Palace in Oslo, where Norway's Crown Prince Haakon led the traditional Viking rowing motion using drums, a custom started by Norwegian supporters.

Following the official welcome, fans also cheered the team during a parade through Oslo's streets. Star player Erling Haaland and midfielder Sander Berge flew in with the team but only participated in the early part of the festivities before departing to rest in Sicily.
