Mysterious Shelter Near Maxima in Ringaudai Not on Lithuania's Official List
A shelter next to a Maxima store near Kaunas, Lithuania, is not registered in the official shelter list. Meanwhile, Lithuania and Latvia are implementing legal requirements for shelters in new buildings.

In Ringaudai, near Kaunas, an inconspicuous mound has been built next to a Maxima supermarket, which is actually a shelter. It features ventilation pipes, an entrance protected by reinforced concrete, heavy armored doors, and a sign indicating its purpose. However, this shelter is missing from Lithuania's official shelter registry.
According to amendments to Lithuania's Crisis Management and Civil Protection Law, new public buildings (excluding religious ones) with a capacity of over 100 people, as well as apartment buildings with more than five floors, must include a compliant shelter.
From 2027, similar requirements will take effect in Latvia: all new residential buildings exceeding five floors and new public buildings over 2,500 square meters must incorporate shelters.
