Nothing's Budget Brand CMF Won't Release a New Phone This Year
Nothing's budget sub-brand CMF has decided not to launch a new smartphone this year due to rising memory prices, instead focusing on other product launches.

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis announced on social media platform X that CMF, the company's budget brand, will not release a new phone this year. According to Evangelidis, CMF was working on a successor to the Phone 1 Pro, but increasing memory prices made it impossible to create a device that represents a genuine step forward at a price point that makes sense for the brand.
Memory prices have surged over the past year due to supply shortages caused by manufacturers diverting production to meet demand from large-scale AI infrastructure projects. Both Apple and Samsung have warned about upcoming price hikes, while the IDC predicted that PC shipments could shrink by almost 10% this year due to higher costs.
The CMF Phone 1 Pro, launched in April last year, was the brand's lightest and slimmest smartphone to date, with a claimed battery life of up to two days. A few months after its release, Nothing spun off CMF as an independent subsidiary headquartered in India, which is Nothing's strongest market.
Despite the lack of a new phone this year, Evangelidis confirmed that CMF will launch several new products, including entirely new device categories.
