Forest in talks for Chelsea forward Delap
Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to bring in Chelsea striker Liam Delap, who has been listed for sale at £50m. It is still unclear whether any move would be permanent or a loan.
Nottingham Forest have opened discussions aimed at signing 23-year-old striker Liam Delap from Chelsea, who have made him available for sale at a price of £50m. He is currently training apart from Chelsea's main squad.
Whether any deal would take the form of an outright transfer or a loan spell has not yet been determined, though the two clubs are said to have a good working relationship. Delap was absent from Chelsea's matchday squad for Monday's Premier League fixture against Fulham, and he lost the number nine shirt to fellow striker Joao Pedro last week.
A move away from Stamford Bridge would come just over a year after Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town for £30m. He managed only one league goal last season as he battled shoulder and hamstring injuries.
Forest's summer business
Forest have already brought in defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting for £34m this summer, along with free-transfer signings midfielder Xaver Schlager and goalkeeper Steve Benda. On the outgoing side, the club sold England midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for a club-record £116m and striker Taiwo Awoniyi to Coventry City for £9m.
Signing Delap would give Forest extra attacking options alongside Chris Wood and Igor Jesus. Chelsea, for their part, are looking to offload a number of players before the transfer window closes on 1 September, with 39 senior professionals currently on their books.
