Nottingham Forest secure club-record deal to sign Delap
Nottingham Forest have agreed a club-record £50 million transfer to sign forward Delap from Chelsea. The player is expected to sign a long-term contract once he passes a medical.

Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign forward Delap for a fee of £50 million (approximately €58.4 million), making it the biggest transfer deal in the club's history.
Once the player completes his medical examination, he is expected to sign a multi-year contract with his new club.
A difficult spell in London
Delap joined Chelsea last summer in a transfer worth £35.5 million from Ipswich Town. However, his time at the London club proved challenging, as shoulder problems prevented him from establishing himself in the squad — he managed just one goal in 28 Premier League appearances last season.
The picture looked very different the season before, when he scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League matches while playing for Ipswich Town.
Early career
Delap began his football career in the Derby County academy before moving to Manchester City's system in 2019. Between 2022 and 2024, he was loaned out to other clubs on three separate occasions before joining Ipswich Town and later Chelsea.
