Downed drone debris kills six on beach in Russia’s south
A Ukrainian drone shot down by Russian forces crashed onto a beach in the Krasnodar region, killing six people, including three children, and wounding about 40. Local residents said no air raid warning was issued.
Russian authorities reported that a Ukrainian drone was shot down over the beach in Arkhipo-Osipovka, near Gelendzhik, in the Krasnodar region on the Black Sea coast. The debris fell onto the beach, killing six people, including three children, and injuring around 40 others. Seventeen of the injured were hospitalized.
The Telegram channel Supernova said that near the impact site is a private recreation base owned by NPO Mashinostroyenia, a company that develops cruise missiles for the Russian military. According to the channel, the base was about 300 meters from where the drone debris landed.
Local residents and vacationers said that no warning siren was heard, even though the village has alert systems installed. The online outlet Astra also reported that no air raid signal was sounded in the region during the attack.
Ukrainian media, reporting on the incident, noted that Russian air defense regularly shoots down targets directly over densely populated areas, causing debris to fall on civilian objects and killing and injuring residents.
