Weather in Latvia during the coming week, at the start of November, will be shaped by an anticyclone, a high-pressure system, so little precipitation is expected, forecasters say. Conditions should be relatively calm, but on some nights the air temperature will fall below zero, so drivers should watch out for icing on roads.

Weekend and Monday

Over the weekend and on Monday, skies will be mostly cloudy, with light rain and fog possible in places. Winds will be light, occasionally dying down completely. At night and in the morning temperatures will mostly range from 0 to +6 degrees, while daytime highs will reach +5 to +9. Saturday should be about a degree warmer.

From Tuesday

From Tuesday the skies will clear more often, but westerly and northerly winds will strengthen and may become strong in gusts. A light frost is expected on a few nights, especially in eastern Latvia. Daytime temperatures will reach +6 to +11 degrees, with brief precipitation possible in places.

Longer-term outlook

Estimates from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts indicate that over the next six weeks temperature and precipitation in Latvia will generally be close to the usual norm. Only the first week of November is expected to be considerably drier than normal.
