NRLW: Titans cement second spot as unbeaten Roosters march on
Gold Coast Titans secured their eighth straight NRLW win to hold second place on the ladder, defeating Canberra 26-20, while the Sydney Roosters remained unbeaten after nine rounds with a 36-8 win over Cronulla.
Titans grind out win over Raiders
The Gold Coast Titans claimed their eighth consecutive NRLW victory on Saturday, defeating the Canberra Raiders 26-20 at Cbus Super Stadium. The match was closely contested for much of the first half until halfback Lauren Brown inspired a burst of three tries in seven minutes, putting the Titans in front 18-6 by the break.
Gold Coast extended the lead to 26-6 in the second half, but Canberra fought back late, scoring three tries, including one after the full-time siren. Winger Mackenzie Wiki finished with a hat-trick, taking her season tally to nine tries. According to the Canberra Times, Titans captain Georgia Hale marked her 50th game for the club with the win, while star centre Jaime Chapman missed the match with a calf injury. The result keeps the Titans in second position on the ladder.
Roosters remain undefeated
The Sydney Roosters made it nine wins from nine games this season, beating the Cronulla Sharks 36-8. Cronulla, who have endured a heavy run of injuries this season, were hit again when forward Rhiannon Byers suffered a knee injury during the match. Roosters winger Brydie Parker scored twice, including a decisive 70-metre runaway try just before halftime that put the result beyond doubt. The win keeps the Roosters two points clear of the Titans at the top of the ladder.
Knights end Cowboys' winning run
In Townsville, North Queensland Cowboys — who had won three of their previous four matches to climb from last place to ninth on the ladder — were beaten 40-6 by the Newcastle Knights. Winger Mercedez Taulelei-Siala scored a hat-trick for Newcastle, while centre Tenika Willison was among the best on the field, scoring a try of her own and setting up several others with strong running. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Knights and lifted them to sixth on the ladder, while ending the Cowboys' two-match winning run.
With these results from round 9 of the 2026 NRLW Telstra Premiership, the race for the finals continues, with the Roosters and Titans currently leading the ladder.
