NVA project helps Latvian residents gain new skills with EU support

The labor market has been changing at an increasingly rapid pace in recent years, and skills that seemed relevant only recently can quickly lose their value. This creates uncertainty for both employed people and job seekers who fear being left behind amid fast-moving changes.

To address this risk, Latvia's State Employment Agency (NVA) has this year launched a new initiative — the project "Support for Adult Education." The project is being implemented with financial support from the European Union's Cohesion Policy and aims to help Latvian residents adapt to shifting labor market demands.

What the project offers

Under the project, participants are given the opportunity to learn an entirely new profession — a possible solution for those wishing to change career direction or whose existing specialization has become less in demand. The project also allows people to improve their digital skills, which have become essential in nearly every profession today, as well as strengthen their language knowledge.

Another component of the project is mobility support, intended for those who need to travel in connection with training or work.

Information about the project was also presented in a podcast, which explained how European Union funding is concretely helping Latvian residents maintain their place in the labor market and become more competitive amid changing conditions.
