Man with 4.25 promille crashes into pole in Ogre; car confiscated, criminal case opened
Police arrested a 1968-born man in Ogre after he crashed his Volkswagen Golf into a power pole with a breath alcohol level of 4.25 promille – one of the highest recorded in the Riga region this year. He faces criminal charges and had his vehicle confiscated.

On Wednesday evening, police received a report of a car accident in Ogre, where a Volkswagen Golf had struck a power pole. Witnesses initially suspected the driver had suffered a medical emergency, but responding officers and medics determined alcohol was the cause.
The 1968-born driver's breath test showed 4.25 promille of alcohol – one of the highest readings recorded in the Riga region this year. The State Police have launched a criminal process for driving under the influence and an administrative process for causing a traffic accident. The man's vehicle was also confiscated.
