Driver with 4.25 per mille alcohol crashes into pole in Ogre
On Wednesday evening, a driver in Ogre crashed into an electricity pole with a blood alcohol level of 4.25 per mille. Police have initiated criminal proceedings and confiscated the vehicle.

On Wednesday evening, the State Police received a call about a driver of a Volkswagen Golf who had crashed into an electricity pole in Ogre. Initially, witnesses suspected health issues, but upon arrival, medics and police determined the cause was alcohol intoxication.
The man, born in 1968, was found to have 4.25 per mille alcohol in his breath – one of the highest readings recorded this year in the Riga region. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for drunk driving, and an administrative process for causing a traffic accident. The vehicle was confiscated.
